FRP Rod Manufacturing Line

Fibreglass rod & OFC strength member production lines, configured to your rod specification

OVERVIEW

JAE India produces FRP rod manufacturing lines configured for a range of rod types — central strength members for optical fibre cables, structural rebar for construction, duct rods for telecom conduit systems, and dielectric insulation rods for the power sector.

Each line is built around the customer's rod specification: diameter range, tensile strength target, resin system, production speed, and packaging format (spooled or cut-to-length).

Rod types we configure lines for

  • Central strength members for optical fibre cables
  • Structural rebar for construction
  • Duct rods for telecom conduit systems
  • Dielectric insulation rods for the power sector

What Is an FRP Rod?

An FRP rod — also known as a fibreglass rod, GRP rod, or composite strength member — is a continuous pultruded profile made from glass fibre rovings saturated with thermoset resin (epoxy, polyester, or vinyl ester) and cured under heat and pressure.

FRP rods offer high tensile strength, low weight, non-conductivity, and corrosion resistance — properties that make them the preferred choice over steel in cable, construction, and electrical applications.

Line Configuration Parameters

JAE India configures each FRP rod manufacturing line to the following key parameters.

ParameterConfigurable Range
Rod Diameter0.5 mm to 25 mm+ (custom die for each diameter)
Resin SystemEpoxy | Polyester | Vinyl Ester
Production SpeedAs per customer output requirement — confirmed during line design phase
Line LengthConfigured to available floor space and production volume
Packaging FormatSpooled on reels | Cut to straight lengths | Both (dual exit)
Automation LevelManual | Semi-automated | Fully automated with PLC and servo control
Curing MethodThermal | UV + Thermal (for advanced line configurations)

FRP Rod vs. Steel Wire — Why the Industry Is Shifting

PropertyFRP Rod Advantage Over Steel
Weight60–75% lighter than steel. Reduces cable weight for aerial installation and reduces shipping cost.
Corrosion ResistanceNo corrosion in marine, chemical, and outdoor environments — eliminates rust-related cable failure.
DielectricNon-conductive. Eliminates galvanic interference in HV cable structures.
Tensile StrengthComparable to steel wire with significantly lower density.
FlexibilityHigher bend radius flexibility for FTTH and microduct cable designs.
